Fiskerejser efter hvid stør – hele året rundt
Du står en diset morgen ved bådrælingen og skuer ud over Fraser floden, falder i staver over den havørn der kredser over båden, eller måske sælen der jager laks foran dig. Et par kraftige nyk i stangspidsen river dig væk fra drømmeriet og inden du ved af det, er du pludseligt forbundet til en fisk du end ikke har turdet drømme om. Dette er størfiskeri i Canada, og hvis du drømmer om at fange en ferskvandsfisk, der er større end dig selv, findes der nok ikke andre steder i verden hvor chancen er større!
2020: 01. maj – 09. maj, 01. august – 09. august, 11. september – 18. september, 18. september – 26. september, 25.september – 03. oktober, 02. oktober – 10. oktober, 09. oktober – 17. oktober.
Hvid stør i Fraser og Harrison river
I det sydvestligste hjørne af Canada slynger Fraser floden sig igennem bjergene, inden den ender sin 1375 km lange rejse i Georgiastrædet. Det er British Coloumbia’s længste flod og samtidigt er det en af Canadas største floder målt på vandvolumen. Den har tilløb fra flere meget kendte og produktive laksefloder som Chiliwack, Harrison, Pitt og Stave river.
Den mægtige hvide stør (Acipenser Transmontanus) lever i den nederste del af Fraser river systemet. Det er én af verdens største ferskvandsfisk med registrerede individer op til 816 kg og 6.1 meter! Støren er en ådselsæder og den bliver over 100 år gammel. Størens kropsform og mund gør den ideelt til at “støvsuge” bunden. Den har ingen tænder, men en udskydelige mund, som de kan bruge som en støvsuger til at suge byttet op.
Støren fanges hele året på nær i december og januar. Der er ikke en periode der er bedre end andre, men ofte fiskes den mest når laksene går op i vandsystemet for at gyde. Da alle stillehavs laks dør efter gydning er der en overflod af mad, som støren kan mæske sig i.
Sådan fanger du hvid stør
Støren kan kun fiskes fra båd. Guiderne sejler ud til deres spots og støren står typisk de dybeste steder i floden, hvor der er et hul som fødeemner suges ned i. På kanterne til disse huller ankres op og linen kastes ud. Maddingen er en helt videnskab for sig selv og hver enkelt guide har deres favoritter. Det er lige fra halvrådne lakse stykker, særlige laksehoveder, rovn, ål og ofte halv fordærvet. Størens favoritføde afhænger helt af årstiden og det enkelte hul der fiskes i. Der er også maddingen til de små og til de store stør.
Når linen er kastet ud ventes der tålmodigt. Støren er stort set blind, men den har meget følsomme skægtråde og lugtesans, som den finder byttet med. Hugget fra en stør er et konstant træk i stangen. Den suger føden ind og spytter den ud igen når den mærker det er forkert. Derfor er det intense øjeblikke når stangen trækker ned, for lige der skal modhugget sættes – ellers er fisken væk. Modhugget er også helt anderledes – du skal simpelthen hive så hårdt du kan 2 til 3 gange for at sætte krogen.
I det splitsekund mærker du om det er en
fisk på 20 kilo eller et monster
på flere hundrede kilo.
Er det en af de store kommer du på en stor fysisk prøve. Og der er ingen vej udenom – du skal holde linen stram hele tiden da der fiskes med kroge uden modhage. Du skal fighte fisken alt det du kan og trække alt det du kan, så du holder fisken fri af bunden. Bliver linen slap bare et øjeblik smutter krogen ud eller fisken søger mod bunden og vikler sig ind i trærødder eller sten.
Det er en fantastisk oplevelse at lykkes med fighten og lande en fisk på over 2 meter og opefter – og så er du udkørt.
Vi tilbyder Stør ture hele året på nær december og januar. Bedste måneder for trofæ Stør er fra sidst i juni til midten af november.

Hvis du har fået ømme arme, eller bare vil prøve noget andet, kan du vælge at kombinere størfiskeriet med laksefiskeri i stedet. Afhængig af tidspunkt og opgang kan du fange hundelaks (billedet), sølvblanke Kongelaks og sølvlaks. Det kan også kombineres samme dag. Der er 5 arter af stillehavslaks som trækker op i systemet.
Pink Salmon i ulige år (fluefiskeri): 1-25 september
Hundelaks (Chum Salmon på flue): 2. oktober- 15. november
Kongelaks (Chinook/King Salmon): 20. august – 23. oktober
Sølvlaks (Coho Salmon på flue): 1. oktober – 5. november
Steelhead: Februar – april
Oktober og november er den bedste måned, hvor du kan fiske flest mulige laksearter og fange dem i tilstødende floder (Vedder/Chilliwack, Chialish, Stave)
Det går ikke uden dygtige guider
Vi har udvalgt de bedste guider – det er nøglen til succes. De kender floden som deres egen bukselomme, og de justerer hele tiden fiskeriet til forholdene. Udover, at de kender floden ud og ind er de også fleksible og de gør alt hvad de kan for at du får fisk. Alt fiskeri foregår fra guidens top professionelle jetbåd, som selvfølgelig er udstyret med alt hvad man kan ønske sig af grej og elektronik. Der bundmedes, typisk fra opankret båd, men i tilfælde af meget store fisk vil den sidste del af fighten typisk foregå fra land. Der fiskes med fire stænger og man skiftes typisk til at tage huggene.
Alt udstyr leveres af guiderne. Ønsker du at fange laks på flue eller andet udstyr er du velkommen til at anvendet eget grej.
Det er meget få steder i verden man kan rejse hen, og have så stor sandsynlighed for at fange en drømmefisk, som i Fraser River!
